Is my website slow, or is it my computer?
The test answers that. It runs on Google's servers as a desktop visit, so your own computer and your wifi aren't part of the result. Phones score lower; Google's PageSpeed Insights has a Mobile tab for that number.
Do you see my results?
No. I never see your results. If you'd like my opinion on them, send me the address and I'll run the test myself.
What score should I aim for?
Ninety or more is what Lighthouse calls good, and it's where the bell rings. Between 50 and 89 the site works but makes people wait, and under 50 many of them leave before it appears.
Why did my score change when I ran it again?
Lighthouse scores move a few points between runs, because the network and the test machines vary. Treat the number as a range, and go by the fix list.
Can you fix what it finds?
Usually. Send me the address and I'll tell you, for free, whether fixing it or rebuilding it would cost less.
How much does a website cost?
Every site is quoted on its scope, so there's no price list. Tell me what you need and you'll have a fixed price in writing within a day, and it doesn't change once I start.
How long does it take?
Templated sites take 2 to 4 weeks and semi-custom 4 to 6. I usually start within a week, and you'll have a preview link in the first one.
Who owns the website when it's done?
You do. The code, the domain, the hosting account and the analytics are in your name from launch day. If you leave, it all goes with you.
What if something breaks after launch?
For two months I fix it for free, along with small changes. After that you can pay me for hosting and edits, or take the code to anyone you like.
